That person is a success who decides what sort of life he wants to create, then proceeds with clarity, determination, and gratitude to create it using whatever raw materials and tools happen to be available. Creation starts where you are. This Musical Life is a long-form, ongoing documentary of the creative life from my point of view, augmented with stories, commentary, interviews with other musical artists, and of course, music.
The central theme of This Musical Life is the creation of meaning to make sense out of this world we find ourselves inhabiting. That’s what the Creative Moment is all about: Make the time, make the effort to create meaning and life will be a different experience for you. Settle for an off-the-rack existence and you’ll find yourself in the unenviable position of letting things happen to you. Create your own meaning, starting from where you are in the moment, and you will live deeply, truly, and well.
It takes determination to step out of traditional patterns of living and create something all your own, out of the stuff you happen to have laying about at the time. There is a community of us, you know, and sharing “what works” is a good thing for such a community to be doing. My goal is to present some ideas and stories about what works for folks in our community of musical artists, in different contexts and environments, that may be useful to you in your creative life.
